"If the Xbox hadn't experienced teething problems, we would have expected the proportion of positive comments to rival the PS4.
"However, it is clear that the PS4 has a much more vocal online consumer base. The question is whether these online advocates help to drive sales."
The study found Xbox customers have been impressed by the new Kinect feature, while PS4 users have commended the console's graphics.
Microsoft has already broken sales records with the Xbox One after more than one million were sold in less than 24 hours.
The Xbox One is now sold out at most retailers, according to Microsoft. The company said that it is working to replenish stock as fast as possible to meet the "unprecedented demand" from its customers.
