Pardes is one of the films, responsible for the growth of Shahrukh Khan to become the Superstar of Indian Cinema. The movie has other stars too, including Mahima Chaudhry, Rani Mukhrjee, Amrish Puri, Alok Nath & Apurva Agnihotri for its casting.
The film is focused on a concerned subject of Non-Residential Indians losing their pristine values of the Indian Culture. Along with it features Romance. So Drama, Romance will be the apt genre for it. Rating of 7/10 on IMDB is what this film has attained, which is very good & shows the niceness of the film.
Story description (not full story):
The story of Pardes, as the name suggests is based on foreign land, particularly Indians, who have been Westernized, losing their Mother Land's values and has also an intersection with Romance. It's about a Young girl, Kusum Ganga (Mahima Chaudhry), who has been brought up as an ideal Indian women and has retained her culture's dignity. On the other side of the World, there's Kishorilal (Amrish Puri), who has a good setup in America, but still has love for his mother land.
Koshorilal wants his Westernized son, Rajiv (Apurva Agnihotri) to marry a fine Indian woman, in the want of allowing some cultural Indian values into his son. So he asks Arjun (Shahrukh Khan) to accompany Rajiv to India and be a cupid for ensuring proper relationship with Ganga.
