Remember the infamous "red ring of death" issue exhibited by early Xbox 360s? Apparently, some early adopters of the latest PlayStation 4 console are now reporting a similar problem. The so-called "blue light of death" symptom renders the gaming device completely unusable, leaving the connected display without an active video and audio feed.
So far, many confirmed or suspected cases have been reported through Reddit and on Amazon. The problem seems widespread enough to have prompted a Sony support staff to release a troubleshoot ing guide on it US support forum. Possible cases cited include a faulty power supply, hard drive and other components, as well as TV compatibility.
Some of the solutions are quite straightforward, while others involve opening up the console and booting up the machine into a special safe mode. Either way, we would strongly suggest you return your defective unit to the retailer instead.
