What other customer said at the original website:

".......I've owned this tablet for a week and thus far have no complaints. The system comes with Android 4.0.4 ("Ice Cream Sandwich"). The capacitative touch screen is responsive, internet speeds are snappy, and the vast majority of applications I've tried on it have worked without flaw. Contrary to what I'd read prior to purchasing, the wifi setup is simple and efficient, simply scan for your network, input WEP key, and you're done. Boot speed is a little slow, taking several seconds to load up. Occasionally the device drops the wifi signal and needs to rescan in order to pick it up. Don't know how expansive the wireless range is as of yet, but will update review once I've done further testing. The one major, glaring flaw of the unit is that it doesn't come with the Google Play store pre-installed. In a nutshell, what this means that Craig didn't purchase the Google Play license or submit the device to Google's hardware inspections. This was probably done as a means of keeping cost down. The result is that right out of the box, you're limited to what applications are available on a secondary market called GetJar which is pre-installed on the device. GetJar's selection is poor, and further, the applications available are of equally poor quality. However, there is a solution: you CAN install the Google Play market on this device, using a complicated workaround that may not be suitable for the average user. The Google Play store will work PERFECTLY after following these instructions, opening up your Craig CMP743d to all of the best applications made for Android devices. HOW TO INSTALL GOOGLE PLAY MARKET ON CRAIG 8" CMP743D - STEP 1: Download the Android SDK development tools. Google "android SDK". The installation file is around 400 MB. This utility is 100% necessary. - STEP 2: Download Java SDK (making certain to choose the right version for your operating system). - STEP 3: Install Java SDK. If the installer you chose says "not a valid Windows application", you downloaded the wrong version for your copy of Windows. Download another version and try again. - STEP 4: Unzip the Android SDK files and move the folder into the C drive ("c:\"). The folder should be automatically named something like "atd-bundle-windows"-whatever. Open the folder. Inside the folder is an executable file named "SDK Manager.exe". Give the SDK Manager a moment to open. A Window will open that shows a number of tools that can be downloaded and installed. Select the following tools: Android SDK Tools, Android SDK Platform-tools, and then scroll down to the bottom of the list where there is a folder labeled "Extras". Expand the folder and scroll down to a utility called "Google USB Drivers" and select it. Install all of the utilities you selected. When the the SDK Manager is finished installing the packages, close it. - STEP 5: Power on your Craig CMP743D. Navigate to the Settings screen. Scroll down the list until you see "Development Options" or something similar. This screen will present an option called "allow USB debugging". Enable it. Next, look for an option that says "allow unknown sources". Enable that option as well. Finally, restart the tablet, and then plug it into your computer via USB. Allow Windows to install the generic drivers. - STEP 6: This is where the process becomes difficult. The generic drivers are not sufficient for this particular tablet to be recognized correctly, and neither are the Google USB drivers you downloaded in Step 4 -- you will find this out the hard way if you attempt to install the secondary tablet drivers downloaded from the SDK Manager. So, why did I tell you to download them, you're wondering? Because you will need to modify the Google USB drivers yourself to recognize the tablet. Press "Start" on your task bar, navigate to "My Computer", and right click on the shortcut. Press "Properties". This will bring up a window with a tab at the top that reads "Hardware". Click the Hardware tab. In the Hardware tab, there is a section that reads "Device Manager". Click on it. This will bring up a list of hardware on your system. Scroll down to "Other Devices" and you should find the Craig tablet listed. Select the Craig tablet, right click, and select "Properties". This will bring up a window that allows you to do a number of things, such as uninstalling drivers, rolling drivers back, etc., but for right now, you're only going to click on the "Details" tab. In "Details", there will be a dropdown menu and a text box showing a complex string of numbers. Click the dropdown box and select "Hardware Ids" from the menu. Selecting "Hardware Ids" will display two complex strings of text in the lower window. Open up Notepad, because you're going to need to save these numbers. Highlight the first string of numbers by clicking on it, then press CTRL + C on your keyboard. Paste the text into your Notepad document by pressing CTRL + V. Highlight the next line of text and copy it into Notepad. You should now have a long string of text and a short string of text in your notepad file. Hang onto those, because you're going to need them to modify the Google USB drivers file to recognize the Craig CMP743D. - STEP 7: Navigate to c:\ and open the Android SDK folder you unzipped earlier. ("atd-bundle-windows" whatever). Inside the folder, click "sdk". Click "extras". Click "google". Click "usb_driver". Inside the usb_driver folder is a file named android_winusb.inf. This is the file you're going to modify. If you're worried about messing it up, make a copy of the file for backup. Now, open the android_winusb.inf in Notepad and make the following changes (you may copy and paste the following directly into your android_winusb.inf file): ;Craig Android Tablet %SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, PUT YOUR SHORT HARDWARE ID HERE %CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, PUT YOUR LONG HARDWARE ID HERE %SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, PUT YOUR SHORT HARDWARE ID HERE %CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, PUT YOUR LONG HARDWARE ID HERE Open the Notepad file where you saved the hardware IDs you collected earlier. Insert the numbers above where they belong. Save the android_winusb.inf with the new changes, and close the window. - STEP 8: Navigate back to My Computer/Hardware/Device Manager and locate the Craig tablet. Highlight, right click, select "properties" and click the "Drivers" tab. Click "Update Driver". In the driver installation wizard, select "Install from a list or specific location (advanced)". In the next window, select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install". In the next screen, highlight "Show All Devices" from the top of the list and press Next. Allow a few seconds of loading time. When it has finished loading, press "Have Disk". This will open an "Install From Disk" window with a navigation box. Select "browse" and navigate to your newly modified android_winusb.inf file. Select the file and press "OK". If you did everything correctly, Windows should install the Google USB drivers and your Craig tablet will now be recognized as a generic Android device, concluding the hardest part of the process. Finish up, and move onto step 9. - STEP 9: You will now need to download two files: one called RootThat-ICS.zip and another called UnlockRoot. These two utilities will open up root access on your Craig and install Google Play store. Some say it's possible to open root using only RootThat, but I have personally had no luck doing so with this particular tablet - thus necessitating UnlockRoot. With the tablet plugged into the computer and recognized as an Android device, install UnlockRoot to your computer, run the program and follow the on-screen instructions. UnlockRoot will tell you that the tablet is already rooted, but will give you the option to "root it again". Click "root it again". The reason this happens is that the Craig is already partially rooted, but not completely; running it again will complete the root. STEP 10: Unzip RootThat-ICS to the c:\ folder. Unzipping the files anywhere else will result in the program failing to work correctly. Open the RootThat folder that you unzipped and press the windowsstart.bat file. This will open a window with a number of options for rooting, rebooting, installing custom applications or installing Google Play market. With the tablet plugged in, simply press "install Gapps" and allow the process to finish. YOU'RE DONE! Reboot your tablet and you will find the Google Market installed on your tablet. It will work perfectly. Have fun and enjoy your Craig tablet to the fullest extent. PS. This tutorial is at your own risk. I make no guarantees and am not responsible for anything that may happen as a result of following this advice. This is what worked for me. I hope it will work for you........"
