Asus Zenfone 4, 5, and 6 are finally receiving Android Lollipop

Tags: Asus, Android, Firmware update

Today Asus has started making updates to Android 5.0 Lollipop available for its Zenfone 4, 5, and 6 lines. This is obviously great news for those who own one of these devices. It's also good to see that at least some of the rumored delays in rolling out these updates did not in fact pan out.

Just a few days ago we got word that Zenfone 5s would have to wait 3-4 more months for the new software. That's not the case, though.

One Zenfone 5 iteration, the A500KL, has so far been the only one to run the Material Design-infused version of Android, since April. Yet now it's joined by both the A500CG and the A501CG.

The update for these handsets is rolling out over-the-air, but if you're impatient you can also download it on a computer and go from there. The required files can be found on Asus' website, which you can reach if you hit any of the Source links below this article. The new software version for the Zenfone 5 is 3.23.40.52.

Moving on, the Zenfone 4 A400CG gets version 7.3.3, once again available both in OTA form as well as a direct download.

Finally, both the Zenfone 6 A600CG and A601CG (pictured above) are getting Lollipop too, but it doesn't look like there's an OTA rollout for them yet. Still, the download link is up already.

Thanks for the tip, Cedric Dinglasan!
