Xiaomi Mi 4i to get a new OTA update to fix heating issues

Tags: Xiaomi, Android

Last month, the Xiaomi Mi 4i was released with fanfare at a dedicated event in India. Shortly after the smartphone was found to overheat, an issue the company tried to quickly fix via a firmware update.

As reported earlier, the MIUI V6.5.4.0 LXIMICD update was pushed OTA to optimize the thermal control algorithms and thereby fix the heating problems. Yet it seemed that the update does more harm than good, causing some software issues so Xiaomi quickly suspended its rollout.

Now we learn that the Chinese company will release a new MIUI V6.5.5.0 build sometime this week after thorough testing.

The Xiaomi Mi 4i features a 5” 1080p display, Snapdragon MSM8939 SoC with octa-core CPU, Adreno 405 GPU, and 2GB RAM. The Mi 4i is on open sale for today and tomorrow only at Flipkart website.
