Week 20 in review: Yu Yuphoria, Galaxy S6 Active, iPhone 6s

Tags: Samsung, Android

This week one of the youngest companies on the smartphone market made the biggest splash. Yu Yuphoria lived up to its name and shot up to second place in our weekly Top 10 with only the Samsung Galaxy S6 staying on top.

If you somehow missed the commotion, here's what the big deal is – the Yuphoria has a metal frame, a 5" 720p screen, runs Lollipop and packs an 8MP/1080p camera all for just INR 7,000 (that's around $110/£95).

A Samsung phone also got lots of attention, despite its unofficial status. We received some exclusive photos of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active (with AT&T branding) and the response to its rugged looks and hefty 3,500mAh battery was quite positive.

Not to be outdone, the upcoming iPhone 6s drew in our readers with rumors of a Force Touch-enabled screen, a 12MP camera and a new chipset with more RAM. The possibility of a Rose Gold (as in the noble metal) proved less exciting though.

In a surprise move Sony unveiled the Xperia A4 for NTT DoCoMo, which may be Xperia Z4 Compact. Though the specs make it look more like a rehash of the Z3 Compact. Meanwhile, Sony's home country isn’t too keen on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.

If Sony's launch schedule seems confusing, HTC's is more so. The HTC J Butterfly launched in Japan and it's everything the One M9 is not – waterproof, with a 5.2" QHD screen, with a dual 20.2MP camera and, well, plastic. What do One M9 owners think after HTC unveiled the One E9+, One M9+, One M8s and now the J Butterfly?
