HTC One (M9) Plus specs revealed by AnTuTu

Tags: HTC , Android

Another entry in the line of HTC leaks this week sheds more info on the specifications of the upcoming One (M9) Plus phablet. The larger sibling to the company's anticipated flagship has popped up on AnTuTu in what is what looks like a carrier-specific version, bound for the Chinese market.

The PowerVR G6200 GPU is bundled with several Mediatek chipsets, including the MT6595 and the MT6795. One might easily expect that the top-of the-line phablet will pack the higher grade MT6795 silicon, but what's disconcerting is the CPU clock rate of 1.95GHz. The CPU's powerful Cortex-A57 big cores in the big.LITTLE architecture can tick at up to 2.2GHz, but perhaps have been toned down a notch in this particular case.

The performance of the device looks uninspiring, however, lagging behind the Sony Xperia Z2, a year-old flagship device with a Snapdragon 801 under the hood. The One (M9) Plus is also beaten in the benchmark by the Xiaomi Mi3, which packs an even older Snapdragon 800.

Normally we wouldn't expect a flagship HTC handset to come with anything other than the latest Qualcomm chipset, but this particular bit aligns nicely with previous rumors of two versions. Granted, it was supposed to be the One (M9), rather than its Plus sibling, but mixing up the two is not hard at the rumor stage.

The new leak also restates that the One (M9) Plus will feature a QHD display, which could possibly be the culprit for the relatively low score.

Thanks to Mr. A for this one!
