ColorOS 2.0.5i Beta now available for Oppo Find 7 and 7a

Oppo has been hard at work developing its own flavor of Android - ColorOS and the new 2.0.5i Beta looks better than ever. A recent announcement made it clear that the OS is now available for download to eager Oppo Find 7 and 7a users with other model builds pending.

ColorOS has been long in the works and as most of you surely know it represents Oppo's own take on Android. The platform is entirely build upon the aforementioned Android 4.4.4 KitKat and while most of the apparent changes in ColorOS are visual, the package is more than a simple custom launcher. Oppo extends much deeper than the exterior would suggest.

The latest beta version of the custom ROM comes with a lot of new features, which Oppo claims are a direct embodiment of the needs of its users. In addition to being graphically impressive, the 2.0.5i build boasts a few interesting new tricks, as showcased in the promo video below.

For one, the app drawer has been fitted with a Batch App Edit option. It looks really snappy and simplifies the often tedious task of rearranging large numbers of shortcuts. It seems to also allow for mass uninstall, which is indeed helpful for spring cleaning and tidying up.

Other nice little additions include a Super Macro feature, which allows for extreme digital zooming and again, judging from the video, works pretty well. There's also a customizable backup location and an in-depth notification control center. The changelog is also full of numerous fixes and the user reception on Oppo's message board seems to be generally positive with a prevailing opinion that ColorOS is really starting to take shape.

For the time being, the sizable 970MB ROM is available only through the download center, but an OTA from ColorOS V2.0.4i Beta is set to start seeding on Monday. If you are feeling adventurous and want to check out the updated platform, be sure to back-up your date prior to flashing and check back with impressions and opinions.
