Qualcomm says Snapdragon 810 on track for H1 release

Tags: Qualcomm , Android

Last week we saw a rather disconcerting report put out by Business Korea regarding the new generation SoC by Qualcomm. The document commented on serious thermal issues and bugs with memory management that were likely to postpone the chip's arrival date.

Luckily today Jon Carvill, Senior Director of Public Relations at the California-based semiconductor corporation, cleared the smoke and assured everybody that the Snapdragon 810 will arrive as scheduled without problems. Carvill diplomatically refused to comment on the speculations themselves, but had this to say about the future of their upcoming chipset:

"I can tell you that everything with Snapdragon 810 remains on track and we expect commercial devices to be available in 1H 2015"

This of course is great news for OEMs and eager consumers waiting to get their hands on the next wave of flagship devices, powered by the 20nm, 64-bit Qualcomm chip. With Snapdragon 810 reference devices already available it seems likely that we are set to see the first consumer devices out in the open mid 2015.
