Samsung testing LTE in India with Galaxy S4 mini LTE

Tags: Samsung , Android

India recently got a taste of 4G LTE but so far it is limited to a handful of cities. On top of the that, the TD-LTE band that is in use in India is only supported on the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c so even if you do have a device with LTE support and live in an area with LTE, you can't use it on the LTE network.

Samsung is now testing the LTE network in the country. The company is importing the LTE variant of Galaxy S4 mini (GT-I9197) in a limited batch of 500 units that will be used for testing and evaluation, according to an import manifest acquired by MakTechBlog.

The cost of these devices at INR 17,690 is slightly higher than the current, non-LTE model of the phone, although the company won't be selling these units. Perhaps, after testing is complete, Samsung will launch a range of compatible LTE models in India.
