Aiming to stay on the cutting edge of smartphone capabilities even before its hit the shelves the OnePlus One smartphone will opt for a quad-core Snapdragon 801 accompanied by 3 GB of RAM. This will make the One just the third smartphone to sport the combination of the Snapdragon 801 SoC with 3 GB of RAM after the Xperia Z2 and the Find 7.
This, however, isn't any Snapdragon 801, but the beefier MSM8974AC found in the Galaxy S5. It has a higher CPU clock of 2.5 GHz for each Krait 400 and a higher-clocked Adreno 330 - up to 578 Mhz per core.
The 3 GB of RAM will help the OnePlus One to power up all those memory-intensive apps and games without breaking a sweat. The rest of the specs we know so far are that the One will feature a 5.5" 1080p display, Sony-made 13 MP snapper on the back, 3,100 mAh battery, swappable back covers and run a custom version of CyanogenMod's flare of Android.
And fortunately the move from the initially planned Snapdragon 800 with 2 GB of RAM to the Snapdragon 801 with 3 GB will not hinder the April 23 debut of the smartphone.
