By launching the Nokia X series, the phone maker is aiming to connect the next billion to the Internet that run Android apps, Microsoft services and signature Nokia experiences, to the Oman market.
The Nokia X device was on sale at Comex priced at OMR48. Nokia X+ which is priced at OMR58 and XL at OMR68 will be available in Q2. Retail price for the Nokia 220 starts at OMR18 and the Nokia Asha 230 is priced at OMR25.
Both products were on display at Comex.
"The Nokia X family boasts Nokia's iconic, high quality hardware design in a range of vibrant colours. Nokia X also brings the best of Nokia signature services such as HERE mapping, as well as great Microsoft services such as OneDrive and access to the world of Android apps," Vithesh Reddy, General Manager, Nokia Lower Gulf, said.
The Nokia X famil y features Nokia's renowned handset quality and design, with a fresh, tile-based user interface inspired by the Lumia family. Nokia sold nearly three million Lumia devices in 2013, a senior marketing official of the Finnish phone maker informed recently.
"Last year, we shipped nearly three million Lumia devices for sale, double the number when compared to 2012. In the region, customers in Oman and the United Arab Emirates are the leading buyers," Henri Mattila, head of product marketing at Nokia, said while launching its five new affordable handsets in Oman.
