Tim Cook tells off shareholders unsupportive of Apple's environmental initiatives - Business Standard

Apple's CEO Tim Cook held his ground against shareholders, who were reportedly apprehensive about the company turning into an environmentally friendly corporation, during the annual shareholders meeting.

The company is planning to have its facilities completely powered by renewable energy.

Expressing concerns over affiliations that may primarily advance social or environmental causes rather than promoting shareholder value, a proposal was put forth by the National Center for Public Policy Research, an Apple shareholder, asking Apple to be more transparent about its dealings with organizations focused on sustainability, the Verge reported.

However, the company's shareholders outright rejected the proposal.

Meanwhile, in response, the company's CEO Tim Cook said that if one wanted him to do things only for reasons, then the person should get out of this stock.
