Meet Harnaam Kaur , the 23-year-old from Swindon who first started sprouting facial hair aged 11. After years of waxing, bleaching and shaving, she's now decided to rock the beard. Hats off to her:


3. Kiev's burning


It's front page news around the world, but what caused the current disturbances in Kiev? Mother Jones has put together an explainer of the conflict , in which one side wants closer ties to Europe and the other is looking for further economic integration with Russia.

4. Elderly nun sentenced for nuclear break-in


An 84-year-old nun from Tennessee has been sentenced to almost three years in prison for breaking into a Tennessee facility where enriched uranium was stored to create nuclear bombs.


Sister Megan Rice admitted to spray painting peace slogans onto the building's walls along with two other defendants. When confronted by a guard, they sang at him and offered him food.


"To remain in prison for the rest of my life would be the greatest honor," Sister Megan said of her 35-month term. "I hope that happens."


5. Crashing a Wall Street secret society


New York magazine have an excellent long read by journalist Kevin Roose, who went undercover at a Wall Street secret society to discover how the one per cent really live.


"Recently, our nation's financial chieftains have been feeling a little unloved," he writes. "Venture capitalists are comparing the persecution of the rich to the plight of Jews at Kristallnacht, Wall Street titans are saying that they're sick of being beaten up, and this week, a billionaire investor, Wilbur Ross, proclaimed that 'the 1 percent is being picked on for political reasons.'


"Ross's statement seemed particularly odd, because two years ago, I met Ross at an event that might single-handedly explain why the rest of the country still hates financial tycoons – the annual black-tie induction ceremony of a secret Wall Street fraternity called Kappa Beta Phi..."
