Looks like Apple's iPad Air is soon about to have some tough competition, at least when it comes to the 'Air' moniker. Sony is rumoured to be prepping a 10.1-inch follow-up to its Xperia Tablet Z, that's said to be even thinner than the Air and come packing some heavy-duty internals.
Specs of the tablet, which is expected to be revealed at the Mobile World Congress next week, were leaked by none other than @evleaks, who boasts one of the best track records in this regard.
While there was no picture to go along with the specs, we expect the Tablet Z2 or whatever name it takes at launch will not be too much of a departure from the tried-and-tested Sony design. This one too will be waterproof and dustproof, just like the initial Tablet Z, which is still one of the classiest looking tablets . The highlight of the design will be the 6.4mm thin body, which sounds quite unbelievable. In comparison, the iPad Air measures 7.5 mm in thickness.
The specs of the Xperia Z2 tablet are very much top-of-the-line. It will get a 10.1-inch Full HD (1920 x 1200 pixels) WUXGA display and would be powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU. That's some top notch internals and the 3GB of RAM should only add to the horsepower. It will also run the latest version of Android i.e 4.4.2 KitKat with some customisations from Sony.
Sony is not skimming on the cameras on this tablet. There's supposedly an 8MP camera on the back and a 2MP front-facing shooter. It will have internal storage of 16GB along with a microSD card slot. Lastly, the Xperia Z2 will have a pretty massive 6000 mAh battery, that should be good enough to make best use of the hardware.
