The keynote address comes just days after the social networking giant acquired popular mobile instant messaging app, WhatsApp in a $19 billion deal.
In the keynote session, Zuckerberg will focus on the importance of extending the benefits of ubiquitous Internet access to the unconnected world, according to GSMA, the organizers of the MWC.
Here are the key highlights from the keynote:
* On why Facebook decided to acquire WhatsApp: "What we see is that WhatsApp is on a path to connecting more than a billion people," said Zuckerberg. He mentioned that 70% of people who use WhatsApp use it everyday.
* Only about 30% of people in the world have access to the internet, said Zuckerberg a t MWC2014 while arguing for cheaper data plans.
* Zuckerberg's goal with internet.org is so everyone in the world can have access to the basic services of the internet.
* We want to create basic web-based services like messaging, weather alerts etc that everyone should have access to: Zuckerberg.
* Zuckerberg talked about Internet.org, a project Facebook launched in 2013 to enable affordable web connectivity.
