The dual SIM Android smartphone which is priced at Rs.12, 499 for the 8GB variant and Rs. 13,999 for the 16 GB one, comes with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, Adreno 305 GPU, a 4.5-inch capacitive (1280 x 720 pixels) touch screen, and an edge-to-edge display. The phone comes with changeable rear panels in different colours.
Moto G is equipped with Android 4.3 which is upgradeable to Android 4.4 (KitKat) and has 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 1.3MP front camera. The Moto G can shoot videos with 720p HD video capability. It comes in 8GB and 16GB internal memory variants, with no expandable memory slots.
The phone has a 1GB RAM, 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity and a 2070 mAh battery.
The Moto G is already being declared as a game changer in the highly competitive smartphone arena, in more ways than one. The fact that it is offering premium features like a great form factor, (which has been the boast of only high end smartphones) at a much lesser cost is already creating a buzz. The Moto G also comes with a slick, waterproof body and an almost stock version of Android, which is not easily to be found in this segment of Andriod smartphones. Even though Motorola is not a part of the Google stable any longer, we expect the Moto G to come with a "guaranteed upgrade" in the future.
With Lenovo putting its weight and cash behind Motorola, the Moto G's prospects seem bright. As of now, e-commerce major Flipkart.com has the exclusive rights to sell Moto G in India for the next 3 weeks. The phone was announced for prebooking on Snapdeal.com yesterday (to be shipped after 3 weeks) and within two hours of listing the device on its website, it garnered as many as 1,000 pre-bookings (though there was no booking amount charged).
