INTERNET INVESTOR Google has picked up an Israeli security company called Slicklogin that uses noises for passwords.
Slicklogin confirmed the deal on its website, saying that it aims at offering a new login and security authorisation approach.
"We started Slicklogin because security measures had become overly complicated and annoying," it said in a note on its homepage. "Our friends thought we were insane, but we knew we could do better. So we set out to improve security while still making it simple for people to log in."
Slicklogin launched just last year and offers a simple sounding and interesting login system. Its users hold their smartphone near their computer and a sound is received. Slicklogin talks to the PC quietly, but urges it to sign you in. The firm said that its approach makes security easy and novel, promising that users can "just place your phone next to your laptop\tablet" to log in.
That was then, and today the firm is joining Google, a firm that also has views on authentication security and Slicklogin sees some synergies with it.
"Today we`re announcing that the Slicklogin team is joining Google, a company that shares our core beliefs that logging in should be easy instead of frustrating, and authentication should be effective without getting in the way," it added.
"Google was the first company to offer two-step verification to everyone, for free - and they're working on some great ideas that will make the internet safer for everyone. We couldn`t be more excited to join their efforts." µ
