Aakash 4 tablet @ Rs 4K announced, release date in March end - Northern Voices Online

This seems a much improved version of the tablet. Aakash 4 tablet @ Rs 4K was announced by Kapil Sibbal, release date in March end

Aakash 4 seems to be attracting lots of attention. The 7-inch tablet's first version was launched with the promise of revolutionizing the Indian educational scenario and bringing an information technology revolution in India has. But this has remained a dream. The company has introduced several versions of the tablet in the market thus far but the promise has remained far from fulfilled.

Firstly the company failed to provide and supply its very low cost version that was going to be made available to school students across the country for as little as Rs 1200. Secondly the tablet was not technically sound and it was very hard to connect it to the internet. But more than that, its lack of availability made it a laughing stock.

Now the company is all geared to introduce the next version in the market as early as before the end of the next month. Kapil Sibal the Telecom Minister who proclaimed to bring the tech revolution in the country with the help of Aakash tablet once again showcased the new version too like the old ones in the past. Though he no longer remains the minister of HRD Affairs, he is still cool to the idea. The present incumbent in HRD ministry Pallam Raju is not so enthusiastic about the idea any more.

When it comes to specifications and features, the new tablet seems to be better than previous version. Aakash 4 will come with 7-incher scratch resistant capacitative touch screen, Wi-Fi, 2G, 3G and 4G, 4GB internal storage, 32 GB expandable memory and front camera. It will apparently have no rear camera. The next generation Aakash tablet at Rs 3,999 may not look as inexpensive as its previous avatar that was priced at Rs 1500. There are several tablets in the market already available for close to this price that look as much enticing as Aakash 4. MICROMAX already has a couple of good tablets at this price with matching specifications and features. Its Funbook P255 priced at Rs.4099 comes with 2 MP Primary Camera, 0.3 MP Secondary Camera, 7-inch Capacitive Touchscreen, 1.2 GHz Cortex-A8 Processor, Wi-Fi Enabled, Android v4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS. It also comes with expandable Storage Capacity of 32 GB. Nevertheless the new tablet may still get some good response in the market.
