China Mobile has launched its iPhone 5s/5c sale on Friday.
Consumers can buy the new gadget at China Mobile business halls and Apple stores. Selected provinces are even providing online purchasing for the devices.
In Shanghai, Apple fans were lining up in front of a China Mobile business hall on West Nanjing Road on the evening of Jan. 16.
Tim Cook, CEO of the Apple Inc., is in Beijing for the launch.
The outlook of iPhone 5s/5c shows no difference from those already in the market. The iPhone 5s (16G), with a two-year China Mobile contract, sells at 5,488 yuan, and supports the TD-LTE 4G, a more advanced network independently developed in the country by China Mobile rather than the widespread 3G network.
After years of negotiating, China Mobile and Apple finally came to an agreement last December, enabling the largest telecom company in China to sell the globally-adored mobile phone.
Some 760 million people in China use China Mobile's cellphone service.
Previously, China Unicom and China Telecom, the other two major telecom service providers in the country, have cut down the prices for their contracted iPhone 5s/5s, which may be a blow to China Mobile's new business prospects.
However, according to data published by China Mobile, by the end of Jan. 13 2014, 1.2 million iPhones were ordered through its official website since pre-sales started on December 25 of last year.
Foreign analysts estimate that the cooperation with China Mobile would bring Apple 13 billion US dollars in profit for this year alone.
China Mobile says its cooperation is not limited to iPhones and they are looking to expand into more areas of business.
