Data provided by Fiksu pointed that the iPad Air, launched a month back, is more adopted by consumers than the standard iPad 4 by a wide margin.
According to CNET, Fiksu samples millions of so-called app events like launches, purchases, and registrations, every hour from applications that use its software development kit, then charts the percentage of active iOS tablets on each version at a set date after launch.
The firm said that at 35 days since release, the adoption rate of iPad Air is 3.35% versus a 1.51% rate recorded during the same time interval after the release of the iPad 4.
The report said that Apple shipped 22.9 million iPads in the fourth quarter of last year and is expected to ship more than 23 million iPads in the fourth quarter, out of which about 10.5 million are projected to be the iPad Air.
The iPad Air's design, high processor with retina display is cited for the device's instant popularity among consumers as its predecessors, iPad 3 and iPad 4 were relatively thick and heavy designs.
Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller had revealed that the response to iPad Air has been incredible, the report added.
