Johannesburg, Dec. 12 (ANI): Google has reportedly launched its first Asian data centre in Taiwan and Singapore.
The search giant said that it would double its planned investment in the Taiwan facility to 600 million dollars.
According to News24, one of the new centres is at an industrial park at Changhua in central Taiwan, and a similar facility in Singapore has been also said to be up and running.
Google had announced plans to set up three data centres in Asia, in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore, but scrapped its plan for Hong Kong due to acquisition issues.
Google's vice president of data centres, Joe Kava said that the growth in Asia's internet has been amazing adding that the number of internet users in India doubled, from 100 million to 200 million while it took six years to achieve that milestone in the United States, the report added. (ANI)
