Facebook users might notice some subtle changes to their News Feed.
The social network said it is updating the feature to highlight more "high quality content" such as news stories.
It said average referral traffic from the network to media sites has surged 170 per cent in the past year, and users seem more drawn to the higher quality articles.
"Starting soon, we'll be doing a better job of distinguishing between a high quality article on a website versus a meme photo hosted somewhere other than Facebook when people click on those stories on mobile," said Varun Kacholia, Facebook's engineering manager, and software engineer Minwen Ji.
Facebook will start adding related links with news stories, to help users find more content. Older stories that generate newer comments will also bump back up near the top of users' feeds.
