LG hits out at Apple, Samsung, HTC - Times of India

NEW DELHI: LG, the third biggest smartphone manufacturer in the world, has found a novel way of hitting out at competitors like Apple, Samsung and HTC. Instead of taking the regular approach of creating an advertising campaign aimed at making the masses switch to its devices, LG has gone 'personal'.

The South Korean manufacturer has created a set of targeted advertisements aimed at Apple iPhone 5S, HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4. When a user opens a website serving advertisements of LG G2 on the web browsers of the three smartphones, the customized ads highlight features lacking in them.

iPhone 5S is slammed for its small screen in the banner advertisements. Users are greeted with a message: "Hard to read this on your iPhone? Get the LG G2 with a 5.2-inch FHD IPS display."

HTC One gets criticized for its rather short battery life in the ads by LG. It goes: "Tired of charging your HTC One? Get the LG G2 with 30% longer battery life."

LG highlights the faster processor of its G2 in the advertisement created for Samsung Galaxy S4. Comparing the Snapdragon 800 chip of G2 with S4's older Snapdragon 600, the ad says: "Waiting for Galaxy to catch up? Get the LG G2 with 20% faster processor."

These banner advertisements have been created by PR agency M&M Saatchi and are running only in Scandinavian countries as of now.

At the launch of the Galaxy S4 earlier this year, LG published advertisements of its own smartphones above the ad spots of the Samsung phone.
