Amazon discounts its Kindle eBook Readers in India, as a Diwali special offer - Gigjets

Amazon India has announced a limited-period special festive discount for its its Kindle eBook reader and the Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch tablets.

As a part of this offer, the 6-inch Kindle reader will be available for 4,999 INR instead of 5,999 INR. Further, the 16GB Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch tablet is now available for 17,999 INR while the 32GB version of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch tablet will be available for 21,999.

Amazon is offering these discounts as its special Diwali offer, and the price cut may have possibly been done in response to the launch of the new Kobo ebook readers in India. The introduction of Kobo readers has certainly sparked competition amongst the two companies which now exist in the Indian market with their devices.

Amazon will be running this offer for all purchases made through their Indian website. The offer will run through October 18 and November 1, 2013.
