Xiaomi's upcoming cheap tablet will have LTE support

Tags: Android , Xiaomi

Slowly but surely, we're getting ever closer to the launch of Xiaomi's next tablet, which should complement the already released Mi Pad 7.9 in the company's portfolio. This device first surfaced at the end of October via a benchmark listing, which gave us a look at some of its most important specs.

Now though, the tablet has passed the certification of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). This process has resulted in a new tidbit of information about the tablet - namely, that it will support 4G LTE networks.

And we're not just talking the China Mobile-specific TD-LTE, but also LTE FDD, which is prevalent almost everywhere else in the world. It also seems likely that the new Xiaomi tablet will support voice calls, despite coming with a 9.2-inch touchscreen.

According to rumors originating in China, the new device should not be more expensive than CNY 599 ($97 or €78), but it's most likely to retail for just CNY 499 - that's around $81 or €65 at the current exchange rates.

Other specs haven't leaked this time around, but we already know to expect a 9.2-inch 1,280x720 display, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage. Powering the new tablet will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC with a 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU.
