[News] Apple may launch iPhone 6 in September: Report

Apple usually launches iPhone in September. At least, that's what the company has done in the last two years. Now a report at 9to5mac, a website that covers Apple -specific news, says that Apple will launch the iPhone 6 in mid-September.

Earlier, a few reports said that the launch date was likely to be September 25. But the latest report puts the date somewhere in the second or early third week of September.

Apple is also expected to release the final beta of iOS 8, the software that powers iPhone, on August 8 so that it is complete by early September.

This year Apple is expected to launch two new models of the iPhone - one is likely to have a screen size of 4.7 inches while the other one is likely to be a phablet with a screen size of 5.5 inches. Recent reports have suggested that Apple may delay the 5.5-inch model due to manufacturing issues related to the screen.

With iOS 8, Apple is making a play towards the healthcare market. The mobile operating software comes with a health kit app. It will also add improved messaging, better app-to-app communication, better integration with OSX Yosemite and many other tweaks including support for new programming language called Swift.

Swift was introduced at WWDC back in June and it supposedly makes app development simpler.

Besides, the iPhone, Apple is also expected to enter new product categories, which include wearables like a smartwatch.
