That's how much Samsung is giving in freebies to buyers of its new Galaxy S5 smartphone. The Korean tech giant is offering PayPal vouchers, a LinkedIn premium account and at least four fitness-related apps to persuade customers to buy its device. Samsung is trying to defend its position as the No. 1 maker of smartphones, and the strategy may in turn force rivals to increase incentives or lower prices.

Jaime Blasco, director of AlienVault Labs, after Cisco and Juniper said some of their products are susceptible to the Heartbleed Web-encryption bug. While experts have urged consumers to change their online passwords to protect against the Web-security flaw, Blasco said it will take longer to fix networking equipment as companies have to rely on customers applying the patches they push out.

Yahoo reports quarterly earnings Tuesday, and Wall Street expects net income to slide 23 percent to $301 million and sales to be flat at $1.1 billion. CEO Marissa Mayer has been hiring high-profile executives, including cosmetics guru Bobbi Brown, to expand content and woo users and advertisers. The Web portal is also considering adding high-quality, longer-form video shows with multiple episodes.
