It appears that WhatsApp is planning to launch a language feature that will allow users to chat with their friends and acquaintances users in their own language.

WhatsApp is currently asking users to 'Help translate WhatsApp today! '.

The updated version will not only let users chat in their favourite language, but also provide customised language interface. The interface may also be available in languages other than the default (English).

The very first page of the whatsApp translator says:

We're looking for translators in: Arabic, Danish, Dutch, Farsi, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, Urdu, and many more languages.

Translate feature asks users to sign in using a social network. The next page wants to setup your profile and choose the language you want to help with.

Now choose a project to translate:

*WhatsApp for BlackBerry

*WhatsApp for Android

*WhatsApp for Windows Phone

*WhatsApp for Symbian Nokia S60

* WhatsApp.com

As soon as you are done you can start with the translation. WhatsApp will provide the sentences in both the languages, English and your selected language. All you have to do is to approve, reject or suggest the correction. The recently completed, (un)approved translations as well as the top contributors are also shown on the page.

The only official message from the WhatsApp team available even after two days was 'Interested in translating for us? Please visit'
