MOTOROLA'S acclaimed Moto X smartphone is finally coming to Australia signalling a return to the smartphone market for the company.

The Moto X has been praised for its long battery life and intuitive voice command feature while it has been criticised for its lofty price.

The Moto X learns your voice and responds to it even without you having to turn the screen on. This means you can ask it if you need to wear a jacket outside and it'll respond with a detailed forecast. Or you can ask it to get you to work and it will direct you there by remembering your works location on Google Maps.

"At Motorola our roots are deep in mobile hardware — we invented mobile communications," says John Demezieres, Account Director Motorola Mobility Australia. "Moto X fuses our history of mobile innovation with the best of Google mobile services to create experiences that no other smartphone can match."

The Moto X also works with the Motorola Connect extension for Google Chrome which lets you see and respond to text messages on your computer, similar to how iMessage works with your iPhone.

The Moto X will be available in Australia for $549 from late March, 2014.
