Unlike the Moto 360, the other smartwatch running Android Wear which was announced the same day, LG G Watch is not round and sports a square shape. It also appears to have a plastic strap. The G Watch featured in the image shows a Hangouts notification, time, the sender's picture and a Google Now button.
LG had said that G Watch would be the first smartwatch to be based on Google's Android Wear. With Motorola also hinting at a summer release, LG may launch the G watch within a month or two.
It is worth pointing out that Evleaks, a Twitter account run by a former technology blogger, has said that a Google smartwatch made by LG, will be released at the Google I/O event which is scheduled to be held in June. Evleaks had also posted purported specifications of the LG smartwatch that included a 1.65-inch IPS LCD display(280x280p), 512MB RAM, and 4GB internal storage. He tweeted the specs before LG made the G watch public.
Google is working with companies such as Asus, HTC, LG, Motorola and Samsung; chip makers Broadcom, Imagination, Intel, Mediatek and Qualcomm; and fashion brands like the Fossil Group to offer Android Wear powered watches.
While unveiling the platform last week, Google had said that smartwatches powered by Android Wear will show information "when yo u need it", provide answers to spoken queries, monitor physical activity and allow access to other devices like a smartphone. Android Wear also uses Google's voice recognition technology, which can be found in Android phones.
