HP's Chromebox to hit streets this spring - TG Daily

Earlier this week, Asus unveiled its very first Chromebox specifically designed to run Google's web-centric operating system.

The uber-mini fanless Chromebox is equipped with an Intel Haswell SoC (Celeron 2955U), Ethernet, dual-band WiFi and a $179 price tag, scaling up based on specs (+ Core i7, etc).

Yesterday, Hewlett Packard (HP) announced that it would be launching a Chromebox this spring.

In addition to running the usual web-centric applications, HP and Google say it will support the latter company's recently introduced video conferencing system.

According to Liliputing's Brad Linder, HP's Chromebox is equipped with HDMI, DisplayPort (supports up to two monitors), WiFi, Bluetooth and four USB 3.0 ports.

The device also features an Intel Haswell processor, with the high-end Chromebox for meetings expected to boast a Core i7 chip.

"HP hasn't yet revealed the price for its new Chrome desktops," said Linder. "[However], the company already sells Chromebook laptops with 11.6 inch to 14 inch displays and Google's browser-based operating system for $280 and up."
