HONG KONG--Google Inc. (GOOG) bought a 5.94% stake in Lenovo Group Ltd. (0992.HK) on Jan. 30 for $750 million, according to a Hong Kong stock-exchange filing.
It bought 618.3 million Lenovo shares at HK$1.213 each, according to the filing made earlier this week.
The purchase was made on the same day the Chinese personal-computer maker announced a $2.91 billion deal to buy Google's Motorola Mobility handset unit for cash and stock.
Lenovo is paying $660 million in cash and buying up to 618.3 million shares.
The amount and value of the shares Google bought are the same as those disclosed in the Motorola transaction.
