MUMBAI: As car customers veer in favour of petrolpowered cars, Tata Motors, with almost 99 per cent of its sales accruing from diesel-run cars, is making a fresh bid to stop the slide in its market share by introducing a new turbocharged petrol engine family called 'Revotron'.
Developed in-house, the new Revotron engine family has been designed in a way that a car user can choose between higher power and higher fuel economy with just a press of a button.
ET learns that the new petrol engine family is likely to have 3-4 different configurations and will make its way into the new generation products. The next in line is the threecylinder 1 litre engine and the company is not ruling out an 800 cc option.
