Nokia has showcased the next generation of its Asha smartphones. The new Nokia Asha 502 has been launched in India and the range soon be extended with two new smartphones set to be launched over the next month – Asha 500 and Asha 503.
The Nokia Asha 500 and 503 will be priced at about Rs 4,499 and Rs 6,799, respectively.
The Asha 500 features a 2.8 inch screen and 2MP camera.
The Nokia Asha 500 will be available in bright red, yellow, white, and black.
The Nokia Asha 500 is a dual-SIM phone.
The devices to be made available are to be launched in India in the same quarter in which software giant Microsoft is expected to complete the acquisition of Nokia.
The Asha 503 will feature a three-inch scratch resistant Gorilla Glass screen, 5MP camera, offer 3.5G HSPA speed and feature.
The Asha 503 is also a dual SIM phone, and will come in bright red, yellow, white, and black colour variants.
Nokia, which launched the Asha series of affordable smartphones for emerging markets like India, launched four devices this year in the series.
"The affordable smartphone market is making headway in the country and we are expanding the Asha family to offer consumers a range of smartphone capabilities at price points to suit a variety of needs," Nokia India Director (Mobile Phones) Sari Harju said.
The Nokia Asha 502 is also a new Asha phone and is already available for about Rs 5,969. It has a 3-inch screen and a 5 megapixel camera.
