INTERESTED PARTIES should start making their excuses now if they want to have a day off tomorrow to play the Xbox One console.
The console goes on sale at midnight tonight, and all over the world shop workers are shrugging their shoulders and drinking more coffee in preparation.
Tesco supermarkets will be open, as will Game. Amazon, for those that don't mind a little wait, already has aisles full of consoles ready for shipping, and Microsoft is going large at its launch events.
A photo shared by the firm on Facebook shows something happening, and we have already been told that celebrities and special guests will grace UK launch events.
Xbox One launch events will take place all over the world, and in New Zealand some sharks are involved. Plans vary from country to country, and there are 13 events in all.
Punters in the US, the UK, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland and Austria should warm up a hot water bottle if they intend to go shopping at midnight and it is cold where they live.
If you are one of those people, but have forgotten to book the day off from work then Microsoft has the doctor's note that you might find handy.
Published on its website, it offers a less than convincing excuse for a duvet day, and is signed by Major Nelson, who as far as we know is not a doctor.
"To whom it may concern, Due to the Zombie Flu your employee will not be able to fulfill the scheduled commitment he/she has with you. Because of the severity of this condition I'm prescribing a heavy dose of Xbox One. He needs to destroy zombies. After a thorough examination, I've concluded that the all-in-one entertainment system is the only cure for the aforementioned condition," it reads.
"This treatment may take anywhere from 1-3 days to work and will require years of accumulating achievements thereafter. If the patient is disrupted with work, I will have to double the prescribed amount of Xbox One. If used effectively, Xbox One can help relieve the patient's entertainment deprivation and will have an increased state of happiness at all times."
