There's absolutely no doubt that the electronics-smartphone/tablet market is booming in India at present. Global IT- echelons and giants are striving to offer something new and innovative every other day especially when the people today have grown much more techno savvy, more reliant on their devices and the societies accepting these gizmos as a status symbol.
Reaping these very benefits, phone manufacturers have conveniently breached the bar of pricing their new offerings. A couple of years ago an Rs 35,000 iPhone would mark the epitome of an expensive phone but now this bar has simply risen to an Rs 70000 (iPhone 5S 64GB) by the same company. Pioneering in many other fields as well, Apple has indeed pioneered the pricing strategy by always making its product offered at the highest premium.
Following suit to this strategy the Taiwanese phone manufacturer HTC has launched its latest phablet, the HTC One Max at a whopping price of Rs 56000. The HTC One Max is the latest successor in its successful HTC One series and comes packed with a power-load of features and specifications.
Sporting a 5.9" full HD1080p LCD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 and a ppi of 373, this phablet promises an excellent viewing experience. HTC One Max has been launched in two variants, namely a 32 GB and a 64GB, both with a feature of expanding its memory space with an external MicroSd card. Boasting a powerful processor of Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.7 GHz quad-core and a 2 GB RAM the HTC One Max claims itself a position in the top premium and powerful phablets available today in the market. The phone runs on the Android 4.3 version and its 3,300 mAh battery gives it a good 25 hours of talk time. The HTC One Max also features a scanner under its rear camera which saves the fingerprint of the user to secure the acces s to the phone.
However a bit of disappointing is its camera which is only 4mp with flash and Full HD recording when compared to its rival offerings like Apple iPhone 5 series, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra. All these except Apple iPhone 5S are priced well under the Rs 45000 bracket thereby breaking HTC One Max's clean opportunity to eat the market share.
In terms of design the HTC One Max sports a similar sibling look of the HTC One series except that it is a much bigger in size. Comparing against other brands premium offerings, HTC One Max fails to win over the Samsung Galaxy Note 3's Octacore 1.9 GHz processor and it's 3 GB of RAM. However, HTC One Max's battery is more powered than the latter and it comes with an option of 4G as well. Sony Xperia Z Ultra's 6.4 inch screen too falls short in giving a better display that the One Max promises, however the Z Ultra boasts a more powerful 2.2 GHz quad core processor and a good 8mp camera over HTC's counterpart.
In terms of price the HTC One Max is cheaper than the iPhone 5S but having said so, Apple fans wouldn't care to shell out a Rs 10000 more to get their hands on one of the best premium smart phone. Bottomline, the HTC One Max woos its loyal consumers and fans to no extent and also outdoes the others in terms of its price-band, but there are still devices out in the market with similar offerings and digging lesser into your pockets.
