The stores, called AndroidLand, will sell Android devices from various manufacturers, including Samsung, Sony Sony, HTC, Lenovo, Xolo, Micromax and Karbonn. The stores will have live demo units and free Wi-Fi so that consumers can check out a device thoroughly before buying it. Accessories will also be sold at the stores.
Taking a leaf out of Apple's book, Spice is putting Android 'experience specialists' in the stores. These 'specialists' will help consumers understand the Android devices better.
"We are excited to launch the first AndroidLand store in India," said Dilip Modi, co-founder and group CEO, Spice. "We are confident customers will love the fun and engaging store concept that we developed in collaboration with Google. We have created a destination for customers to experience Android technology and learn about what they can do with mobile internet."
Spice said that the stores have an open-plan design that would encourage customers to discover the world of Android better. There will Android robots in the stores to make them look different from the usual stores.
Another feature of the store is Google Play Zone, where consumers will be able to experience and download apps and games available for Android platform.
