iOS 7: Telegraph readers have their say on the update of the operating system - Telegraph.co.uk

Sue

"The tiny numbers on the Year Calendar on the iPhone make it very fiddly."

Martin

"It's difficult to type in a search in Safari. It's not as easy to access previous searches as it was in the previous system.

"Nothing is as easy to read (and I have gone to bold type and increased contrast). The calendar system is difficult to work around – and not as easy to see a reminder at a glance because the dot under the day is too faint. "

Jan

"The typewriter is very 'weedy' looking and the Capitals on key is no longer blue, I also don't like having to put a code in to open the screen on my iPad. If I lent it to a friend, I would not like having to disclose this code. "

Jenny

"My Parallax effect is on but my Control Centre is a flat grey whereas it should share the same colour scheme as my home screen. Regardless of what colour my home screen is (pink, green, blue etc), the control centre is a non-see-through flat grey colour. And my notification screen is permanently black."

Dan

"On the whole I like the update, once I removed the control centre in apps and the parallax. As the icons and screen are so bright I found reducing the brightness helped a lot too. Unfortunately the zooming of icons on opening and closing apps is rather nauseating but the Apple support centre have confirmed there's no way around that electronically. My work around is closing my eyes on opening/shutting apps – may look daft but fixes the problem!"

Rachel

"They changed the lovely primary school yellow lined 'paper' in Notes to plain old white – boring. In fact everything seems to now be white – including emails. I do not like the grey background on files on home page. I'm unable to delete individual message – must go to all listings to group delete. [see our tips for solution to this problem]."

Karen

"On the notifications centre, I would really like if the calendar had an option to list out the scheduled events, instead of having the hourly look. If there are things scheduled later in the day, they do not show up for hours."

Amy

"I'm not blind and don't need larger icons or exploding windows … I see no benefit to it and don't really think it "looks" or "feels" better."

Jeff

"I've turned off as much animation as it allows, but the constant zooming and movement is a bit much. I want to turn it off, but I can't. I now have to swipe left to delete an email. My thumb doesn't do that!"

Ian

"When you try to use one of your own photos as background wallpaper, it makes the image so huge that it looks awful. It will not scale down to fit the screen properly no matter what photo image I've tried."

Brenda

"Any idea how to change iOS 7's Music Player so it doesn't automatically download artist photos? And when it gets it wrong how do I correct it? If I remember correctly Ronnie James Dio was not a black man with a top hat. This is completely new functionality that Apple have imposed by identifying the artist's name and selecting their own choice of image."

Alistair

"My Apps and folders now all feature a nasty washed-out beige-grey colour scheme, which makes my phone look like it's been sick on the inside of the screen!

"When will Apple stop being so dictatorial and allow for the fact that people have different (and frankly, better) tastes than their design team?

"I also have an issue with the new fonts used on the keyboard etc- they are far less readable, even with the contrast tweaked, and bold fonts turned on."

Nick

"I have several email accounts, and when I receive a new unread email, the home screen shows the number '1'. After the upgrade to IOS 7, the count is a total of all messages including read messages. This is misleading, since I only need to know how many unread messages require my attention. "

Harry

"When on a phone call if you press the on/off instead of locking it, it ends the call. Very annoying, since having the phone call option on the screen and holding the phone to your ear could cause you to accidentally press buttons with your cheek."

Carolyn

and up the up side ...

I really like the new iOS 7, especially on the iPhone 5. In iOS 6, when editing text by clicking back in to the main body, if the cursor was immediately to the left of a character i.e. no space, autocorrect would not work. In iOS 7 this appears to have been fixed and I for one am delighted!
